Nano Banana Prompts for Interior Design

Oct 15, 2026·Five edits on one room photo: relight it, change three things at once, move the camera, restyle it, empty it.
1. Retake it on a rainy evening / 1. Reprendre la photo un soir de pluie

Nano Banana, Google's Gemini image model, is at its best on a photo of a room when the prompt is short, asks for one kind of change, and names what must stay. Several edits can go in one request if they are written as a list. All five prompts below were run on the same living room photo.

The room every prompt on this page started from

1. Retake it on a rainy evening

Prompt

Retake this photo on a rainy evening with the lamps on.

1. Retake it on a rainy evening

One short sentence relit the whole room: blue dusk at the windows, two lamps on, furniture untouched. The French run invented a strip of ceiling lighting that is not in the room, so compare with the original.

2. Three edits as a list

Prompt

Make ALL of the following edits to the image: - replace the sofa with a dark green velvet three-seater in the same position; - add a large jute rug under the coffee table; - hang EXACTLY one large abstract painting on the right wall; - keep the walls, windows, door, floor and camera angle unchanged. Do not include any logos, text or watermarks.

2. Three edits as a list

All three were done: green velvet sofa in the same place, jute rug, exactly one painting. In the French run the sofa came back larger than the original, so add 'same size' when replacing furniture.

3. The same room from the opposite corner

Prompt

Show this same room from the opposite corner: the camera stands next to the door on the far wall, at eye level, looking back towards the two windows, which are now on the right of the frame. Same furniture, same floor, same daylight.

3. The same room from the opposite corner

Describing where the camera stands and what it now sees gave a plausible reverse view with the same sofa and floor. It is a reconstruction: the model has never seen that side of the room, so do not use it as a record of the space.

4. Restyle, room unchanged

Prompt

Restyle this room in a warm mid-century style. Keep the room itself unchanged: same walls, windows, door, floor and camera angle. Change only the furniture and add two lamps.

4. Restyle, room unchanged

The furniture changed to mid-century pieces and two lamps were added. In the English run the lamps warmed the wall colour too, although the walls were meant to stay the same.

5. Empty the room

Prompt

Remove all the furniture from this room and show it completely empty. Keep the walls, windows, door, floor, lighting and camera angle exactly the same.

5. Empty the room

The cleanest result of the five: every piece of furniture gone, walls, windows, radiators and painting in place. A good first step before staging a furnished room.

What these five edits showed

  • ✓Short prompts work for edits. 'Retake this photo on a rainy evening with the lamps on' needed nothing more.
  • ✓For several changes, write a dash list under 'Make ALL of the following edits' and put counts in capitals.
  • ✓Always name what stays: walls, windows, door, floor, camera angle.
  • ✓For a new viewpoint, describe the finished shot: where the camera stands and what is now left and right.
  • ✓The model says it keeps the rest unchanged, and it mostly does. It still redraws the whole image, so details can drift.
  • ✓End with 'Do not include any logos, text or watermarks.'

Questions

What is Nano Banana?

The nickname of Google's Gemini image model, used in the Gemini app and through Google's API to create and edit images.

What is a good Nano Banana prompt for interior design?

A short edit request on a photo of the room that names one change and lists what must stay the same.

Can Nano Banana show my room from another angle?

It can produce a plausible view if you describe where the camera stands. It is a reconstruction, not a record of the room.

Does Nano Banana keep my room unchanged when editing?

Mostly. In our runs the walls, windows and floor stayed, while small things such as lighting or furniture size sometimes changed.

How these prompts were tested

Each prompt on this page was run once in English and once in French on 5 October 2026 with Google's Gemini 3.1 Flash Image model. The images are those results, resized and otherwise untouched. That is one run per language: the same prompt can return a different image next time, and other tools will answer differently. Where a run went wrong, we say so.
